BioSteve Olson was first elected in 2002. He is an active farmer. Steve was born on January 30, 1947, in Clinton, Iowa. His father, Noel, was a farmer and his mother, Miriam, was a homemaker. Steve has one brother, Tom, a farmer, and one sister, Julie, an Office Manager. He grew up in Calamus and graduated from Calamus High School in 1965. Following graduation, he attended Iowa State University, but left early for military service. From 1966 – 1972, Steve served his country honorably in the Iowa Army National Guard. In 1966, Steve married Eunice and together they have two children, Kurt, a farmer in Clinton, and Karin, a speech pathologist in Lone Tree. Steve and Eunice have four grandchildren. Steve is a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and is Past President of the Church Council. He belongs to several organizations including the Lions Club, American Legion, Iowa Cattleman’s Association, Iowa Pork Producers, and Farm Bureau. He volunteers on the DeWitt Development Board and is also a volunteer with the Central Community Foundation Board.Prior to serving in the House, Steve served two terms on the Calamus School Board.
