BioState Representative Ryan Dvorak is currently serving his sixth term as State Representative for Indiana’s 8th House District, which covers portions of South Bend, northern St. Joseph County, and northeastern LaPorte County. He currently serves as Assistant Democratic Leader, and is a member of the Committees on Judiciary, Courts & Criminal Code, Environmental Affairs, and Natural Resources.Ryan has been recognized across the state as the leading legislative expert on renewable energy policy, authoring groundbreaking legislation on net metering, renewable energy standards, and enforcing accountability for utility companies. He has also passed new laws to keep drunk drivers off the roads, crack down on methamphetamine production, and grow jobs in our state—including the first “Buy Indiana” law. Ryan has been a Michiana Forty Under 40 honoree, recognized by the Hoosier Chapter of the Sierra Club for Outstanding Achievement, and named Legislator of the Year by both the Indiana Aviation Association, and the Indiana Conservation Alliance. Ryan is also a practicing attorney with May Oberfell Lorber, the oldest law firm in northern Indiana. Prior to his election as State Representative, Ryan served as Senior Aide to Congressman Tim Roemer. Ryan received a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy from the University of Notre Dame and a law degree from the Indiana University McKinney School of Law. Ryan and his wife, Angie, live in South Bend with their two daughters, Caroline and Charlotte. ..
