Bio

After college, he began a career as a public school teacher. His first teaching position was at Westwood High School in 1972, teaching Vocational Agriculture. He has spent Thirty years in education. His accomplishments include developing the first Vocation Agriculture program at Heber/Overgaard School District, in 1999 Chester helped to establish the Northern Arizona Vocation Institute of Technology across rim country school districts.

He now serves as assistant superintendent for this Joint Technological Education District. Chester has served on many state committees at the state level including- CTE Advisory Committee to the State Board of Education, Governors P20 committee on Standards and Assessments.

Chester Crandell, and his wife Alice, operate a small cattle ranch on the Rim. With grazing leases on BLM managed land, and State Trust Lands, beside private land, negotiating bureaucratic red-tape and ever imposing restrictions by government land management agencies are all too familiar. The honest feeling of hard work, and respect for the land are just as familiar, though, and nurtures long cherished rural frontier values that he will represent in the legislature.
