For the past 35 years, Representative Hayes has represented many of his constituents as an attorney in the Pataskala community. His public service experience also includes being a school board member in two districts, court magistrate and city law director.

Representative Hayes is proud of his vast array of work experience. His past includes such positions as milk delivery man, funeral home assistant, farm hand, gas station attendant, lumber yard laborer, jewelry store credit department and engraver, truck driver, cook, butler, chauffeur, day camp staff member, mathematics teacher, sports coach, salesman, industrial management, information systems developer and attorney.

Representative Hayes has been married 47 years to his wife, Carolyn. The couple is active at church, as well as supporting Heartbeats of Licking County, a pregnancy counseling center where Carolyn has served as a volunteer counselor. They have three children and six grandchildren.
