Left Virginia Tech during freshmen year to help mother run the family farm after his father passed away

Went back to school and received a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Averett University in 1996

Took over family farm business in 1998

Elected to Halifax County Board of Supervisors in 1999

Selected as Vice Chairman of Board of Supervisors in 2000

Long-time volunteer at organizations like Good Samaritan Food & Clothing Bank, National Wild Turkey Federation, Wounded Warriors of Iraq and Afghanistan, Hunters for the Hungry, and through his church
