Who is Rep. Tim Moore?

•Rep. Moore is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and received his Juris Doctor law degree from Oklahoma City University. He is an attorney admitted to practice law in the federal and state courts of North Carolina representing clients throughout the region. Rep. Moore practiced with the firm of Flowers, Martin, Moore & Ditz from 1995 – 2009, when he left the firm and opened his own law firm where he presently practices law.

•Rep. Moore was first elected to the North Carolina House of Representatives in 2002 and re-elected in 2004, 2006 and 2008. He previously served as Chairman of the Election Law and Campaign Finance Reform Committee, Vice Chairman of the Judiciary Committee, Chairman of the House Select Committee on Domestic Violence, and Chairman of the House Interim Committee on Child Abuse & Neglect, Foster Care, and Adoption.

•Rep. Moore is regarded as an authority on elections law and has testified before the United States Congress on efforts to increase voter participation, ballot integrity, and security.

•Rep. Moore is known as one of the most effective conservative members of the House, consistently ranked as one of the top supporters of lower taxes, job growth, limited government, and individual liberties.

•Rep. Moore has worked on legislation to help bring new jobs to our county and state and has invested many hours in working directly with local small businesses to help preserve and expand jobs for Cleveland County.

•Rep. Moore has successfully sponsored several laws designed to make children and families safer. He was primary sponsor of the Jessica Lunsford Law which increased the punishment for sex offenders and imposed monitoring and other restrictions on child predators. He also was successful in strengthening penalties for gun offenses on school grounds after a shooting at a local school several years ago.

•Rep. Moore has supported tougher criminal penalties for those who break the law by increasing penalties for violent crimes, habitual offenders, and those causing serious injury to others. He also has supported cracking down on identity theft and fraud crimes.

•Rep. Moore has consistently been endorsed by the NRA and other organizations as a defender of the Second Amendment and supporter of sportsmen’s rights.

•Rep. Moore has worked to help citizens, particularly seniors on fixed incomes, have access to quality health care and prescription drug coverage. He has supported innovative efforts to provide services, while still retaining the private non-governmental based health care model that has made the United States the leader in medical services. He opposes the federal government takeover of health care and supports more private – public joint efforts to ensure access but allow individual control of health care decisions and treatment.

•Rep. Moore supports immigration enforcement and compliance efforts and believes that illegal aliens should not be provided public benefits and services, but rather that the immigration laws should be enforced and that the borders should be secure.

•Rep. Moore is a strong supporter of quality education for our children. As the parent of children in the public schools, he knows the challenges faced by teachers and schools to provide the best education possible so that our children are prepared for the future. Rep. Moore will continue to fight for less money to be spent in state bureaucracy and for more resources to make it to the classroom.
