Bio

Congressman Dan Bishop's family has hailed for generations from Bladen County, in the eastern end of North Carolina, but he was born in Charlotte, and now lives in Waxhaw, NC. Dan brings to the House an impressive background in policy-making, legal work, and commitment to Conservative North Carolina values.

In the General Assembly, Dan fought to keep North Carolina families safe from dangerous sanctuary city policy. He cut taxes, limited spending, reduced family healthcare costs, invested in public schools, expanded school choice, raised teacher pay, safeguarded the Second Amendment, passed Voter ID, fought to protect life, cut regulations and helped North Carolina's economy create hundreds of thousands of new jobs.

He remains committed to those issues in Congress.

Dan holds bachelor's and law degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. After graduating law school in 1990, Dan served business clients in the private sector for 29 years.

During his private sector career, Dan served as a Mecklenburg County Commissioner from 2004-2008. He was next elected to the North Carolina House of Representatives in 2014 and the North Carolina Senate in 2016, where he served until he ran for Congress. Dan won a close, high-profile special election in September 2019. He was re-elected in November 2020 to represent North Carolina's 9th Congressional District and again in 2022 to represent North Carolina's 8th Congressional District. Dan's family is his solid foundation. He lives with Jo, his wife of over 20 years, and his son Jack.
