BioMy name is Jim Lucas and I am running for State Representative for District 69. I am 48 years old, a lifelong resident of Seymour, IN and have been married to my wonderful wife Lynn for 18 years. We have 3 beautiful children, Suzanne, Jack & Madeline, along with two Golden Retrievers, Gabe & Vinnie (if you have dogs, you’ll know why I include them!). I am a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and graduated from Immanuel Lutheran School and Seymour High School, small business owner of The Awning Guy, Inc. for 13 years and currently am serving a second term as Seymour City Council At Large. My career in politics started after I became dissatisfied with some of the decisions not being made by our local government. As a small business owner, I am constantly subjected to accountability and efficiency, and I couldn’t understand why these same principles weren’t always being applied by our elected officials. So, I got involved, ran for and was elected to Seymour City Council At Large in 2008 and was recently re-elected to a second term. While serving on city council, it became apparent that one voice speaking out from within against waste and inefficiency can make a significant difference in how our tax dollars are spent. I am a firm believer in individual liberty, less, but common sense regulation, a smaller, more efficient government, truly free markets protected by law, and personal and fiscal responsibility as the solution to our problems. This campaign is going to be a great chance to share ideas with people throughout the district and I look forward to meeting as many people as possible. As a small business owner for over 13 years, I know how to work with people to get things done! Hard work, ensuring that our individual rights and liberties are protected and holding government accountable to the people are values that I want to take to Indianapolis as your next State Representative of District 69.
