BioCarl Von Epps is serving his 10th term in the Georgia State House of Representatives, being firstelected in 1992. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from Morehouse College; an Honorary Doctor of Law Degree from John Marshall Law School; and successfully completed Harvard University’s Summer Executive Institute for State and Local Public Officials. Representative Epps is pastor of Smith Chapel United Methodist Church in Newnan, Georgia. He has more than 35 years of experience as a successful entrepreneur and businessman. Representative Epps presently holds membership on several House Committees, including Appropriations, Agriculture and Consumer Affairs, Insurance and Regulated Industries. His longevity and achievements as a legislator for almost two decades may be directly attributed to the faith and trust his constituents of House District 128, covering Meriwether and parts of Troup Counties, have in him due to his proven hard work, honesty and integrity as a public service working on their behalf. An active member of his community, Representative Epps is a member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., and serves on the Board Member of the Troup County Board of Health. He has served on the Roosevelt Warm Springs Rehabilitation Foundation, Chattahoochee Boy Scout Council, Troup READ and the Troup County Communities and Schools. He also served as Chair of the Georgia Legislative Black Caucus, Inc. Representative Epps is the founding President of the West Georgia Chapter of 100 Black Men of America. In recognition of his outstanding community and legislative service, he has been the recipient of numerous awards and honors from various organizations including the Georgia Child Care Association, Meriwether County NAACP, Sons of LaGrange Lodge 537, Troup County Association of Educators as well as Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. A doting father of five children, Representative Epps is devoted to his wife of 26 years, Benita, a dedicated veteran educator with the Troup County Public School System.
