Bio

State Representative Frank J. Mautino is a native of Spring Valley where he lives with his wife and children. With a degree in marketing and a minor in administration from Illinois State University, Frank Mautino helped improve and expand the family business before succeeding his father as state representative.

Representative Mautino has a strong record of legislative achievements. A leader on issues to help children, Representative Mautino authored landmark legislation to track child sex offenders and make the data available to local police forces. Representative Mautino also passed legislation promoting the McGruff Safehouse Program for children on a statewide level. He has continuously worked with child advocacy groups and has also received awards for his work on behalf of the state's detention homes. The Farm Bureau has lauded Representative Mautino as a "Friend of Agriculture" .

Representative Mautino served on the board of the Comprehensive Health Insurance Plan (CHIP). He helped to increase the program to serve thousands more people who can afford, but cannot purchase health insurance due to chronic illness or disability. Representative Mautino introduced and passed the Cannabis Control Act to stiffen the penalty against drug dealers caught transporting illegal substances. He has supported many new laws and measures that punish criminals and force them to serve longer sentences, and he sponsored legislation to expand the Crime Victims Bill of Rights.

Beyond fighting for additional education funding, Representative Mautino has also authored and passed reforms to the state's education system. He has given local school boards the option to put students convicted of felonies into alternative schools, away from the students they have harmed. This act improves the learning environment for our children.
