BioJay Morris grew up in Rayville, Louisiana. Like many children of Louisiana, he went to LSU, graduated, and then, took his law degree at the LSU Law School. While in school, he served as a student intern for United States Senator J. Bennett Johnston and the Louisiana Municipal Association and after graduation he served as a law clerk to a judge in Alexandria. He moved to Monroe and soon became a partner in the firm of Thompson, Sparks, Dean and Morris.Jay Morris saw an opportunity and was instrumental creating and building new businesses. He formed several local companies and took them to pre-eminent positions in providing services to the mortgage servicing and banking industries as well as working to assist local homeowners, property buyers, sellers, investors and developers. When Jay began his firm employed only 8 people. As each company grew, Jay was able to bring many Northeast Louisiana citizens good paying jobs. Today, as managing partner of Dean Morris, LLP, Lenders Title Corporation, and owner of Morris & Associates-businesses providing services to the banking and mortgage servicing industry and to real estate buyers and sellers in Mississippi and Louisiana. Jay Morris employs over 200 people in Northeast Louisiana. In spite of extensive travel to develop new business-and bring jobs to Northeast Louisiana-Jay Morris has also found time to devote to our community. He’s coached basketball at Grace Episcopal School and served on the Board of Trustees for the same school for several years, serving as President and Treasurer for a part of that time. Jay’s businesses are deeply involved in the United Way and the Monroe and West Monroe Chambers of Commerce. Jay has three grown children, John, Ashley and Carrie Morris. They are all college graduates. He is married to Emily Courteau Morris, also a practicing attorney. Emily is active in the Junior League of Monroe serving in numerous leadership capacities and a member of PAWS of Northeast Louisiana.
