Bio

Family & Business

Rep. Mike Hager is the Father of two children. His daughter Breanna is a second year student at NC State and his son Nate is a freshman at NC State University. With two in college, Mike certainly understands the needs of growing families in NC. Mike is a strong pro family and business legislator. He is dedicated to preserving the quality of life and freedoms our families deserve. Rep. Hager believes that strong families build strong communities build strong businesses!

Family time for Rep. Hager includes taking Bre to dinner in Raleigh and hearing all about her classes at NC State. Bre models her Dad in having a penchant for public service and volunteerism. Of course, time with Nate comes in sharing a bit of competition over various video games. Nate is currently working on creating his own video games at which he is sure to beat his Dad.

These have been tough times for all of our families and one of the reasons Mike Hager chose to run for the NC House in 2010. After suffering the effects of the economy on his own small business, Mike knew it was time for new leadership in Raleigh. He is retired from Duke Energy as an engineer and has put his education and experience in his own small business to work in the General Assembly.

Legislative

Rep. Hager is completing his first term in the NC State House and Represents District 112, which encompasses all of Rutherford County and the Lattimore, Mooresboro and Kingstown regions of Cleveland County. With redistricting, the changes in the district means that the new territory will be a small portion of Burke County and all of Rutherford County. His home is in Greenhill in Rutherford County.

During the 2011-2012 Session, Committee assignments include the Appropriations Committee, Banking, Commerce & Job Development, Education, Government, and service as Vice Chair of Public Utilities.
