Bio

Ed Scott is known for bringing a business perspective to his work as our Delegate. He understands the budgets of small businesses and the consequences of government regulation as he also is a partner in a small business based in Locust Grove, VA. Prior to becoming a part of EcoSeptix Alliance, Ed spent eighteen years in sales and management with CFC Farm & Home Center.

A native of Culpeper and a graduate of Culpeper County High School, he is a 1987 graduate of Virginia Tech with a B.S. degree in Animal Science. In addition to his business experience, Ed spent two years working in Richmond as Director of Government Affairs for the Virginia Agribusiness Council.

Ed serves on the Agriculture, Chesapeake, and Natural Resources, General Laws, Transportation, and Science and Technology Committees. Delegate Scott chairs the Transportation Subcommittee dealing with DMV, titling, registration, and insurance issues. He is also Vice-Chairman of the Agriculture, Chesapeake, and Natural Resource Committee and chairs the Chesapeake subcommittee. Additionally, Ed has been appointed to the Board of Trustees of the Center for Rural Virginia, and is a legislative appointee to the Volunteer Service Award Program (VOLSAP) for fire and rescue squad volunteers. From the mountains of Madison County to the shores of Lake of the Woods and Lake Anna, Ed works diligently to bring the views of the citizens of the 30th District to Richmond.

In evaluating his work and voting record, Virginia FREE, a leading non-partisan business and political research organization, has consistently rated Delegate Scott among the leaders in the House of Delegates for his work to protect and strengthen Virginia’s prosperous business environment. He has been recognized as Legislator of the Year by both the Virginia Horse Council and the Virginia Hunting Dog Owners’ Association. In 2010, Ed received the Delegate of the Year award from the Virginia Wine Council as well as being named Virginia Legislator of the Year by the Sportsmen and Animal Owner Voting Alliance. In January of this year Ed was awarded the Distinguished Friend of Agribusiness Award by the Virginia Agribusiness Council. In July, 2011, Ed was one of two Virginia legislators recognized by the Virginia School Boards Association for his work for public education.

He is a past Chairman of the Madison County Planning Commission, a past board member of the Hospice of the Rapidan, a member of the Career Partners Board of Trustees, and an ex-officio member of the Board of Directors of the Culpeper Chamber of Commerce.
