Bio

District

State Representative Earl Poleski was first elected in November 2010 to the Michigan House to represent the people of Jackson County including the city of Jackson and the townships of Concord, Hanover, Napoleon, Parma, Pulaski, Sandstone, Spring Arbor and Summit.

Poleski has promised to work towards making Michigan more business friendly by cutting the Michigan Business Tax and replacing it with a tax that aligns the interests of business with that of our State. Poleski is committed to fix state government and stop Michigan from wasteful spending.

Committees

Poleski serves as chair of the House Financial Liability Reform Committee. He also is a member of the House Appropriations Committee, and chairs the House Appropriations Subcommittee on General Government; and serves on the subcommittees on Corrections and Transportation.

Education

Poleski graduated from Albion College in 1978 and went on to receive his Master’s Degree in Taxation Science from Walsh College in 1986.

Professional

A Certified Public Accountant since 1981, Poleski’s career has included balancing budgets, keeping a watchful eye on spending, and protecting the financial security of his clients, neighbors and fellow taxpayers.

Throughout his career, Earl has been a sole-practitioner and partner with accounting firms providing individual and business accounting, tax and consulting services, and representing clients to the IRS and state tax agencies. Currently, Earl is a member of the Lally Group, PC accounting firm in Jackson.

Personal

Poleski's family has lived in Jackson since 1973. He has been married to his high school sweetheart, Candy, since 1978. Candy's family has lived in Jackson for five generations. Together, they have two grown sons, Earl Wayne and John.

Poleski and his family are members of the First United Methodist Church where he sings in the Chancel Choir and has been active in several leadership roles. Poleski has also led several mission trips around the country with Jackson youth teaching values such as service, hard work, honesty and responsibility.
