Bio

Born and raised in Robeson County, Jarrod's parents instilled in him the importance of faith in God, hard work, and service to others. After graduating from Purnell Swett High School, Jarrod joined the U.S. Marine Corps where he served as a tank technician for six years. In 2012, Jarrod graduated from UNC-Pembroke with a bachelor's in political science and a minor in history.

A lifelong member of Galilee Baptist Church in Red Springs, NC, Jarrod served as a Sunday School teacher for nearly a decade. As a born-again Christian, Jarrod believes that shining the light that Christ has placed within each us is key to making our communities a better place.

Jarrod is married to his wife, Jennifer, and they welcomed their newborn daughter Madyson Jade Lowery in December 2022.

"As a former United States Marine, being a public servant isn't about titles, but securing a more prosperous and safer future for our communities." Serving Underserved Communities After college, Jarrod joined North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory's senior staff. As Regional Outreach Liaison for the Governor, Jarrod worked closely with and advocated on behalf of Rural Areas, Veterans, and American Indian communities.

After leaving the Governor's Office in 2017, Jarrod took on a new role as Regional Director for North Carolina Insurance Commissioner and State Fire Marshal Mike Causey, where he worked closely with First Responders across North Carolina to address the challenges facing law enforcement in rural areas.

Jarrod's service in state government gave him valuable insight into intergovernmental affairs, understanding how levels of government interact with each other, and how processes can be streamlined to better serve the people.

Serving the Lumbee Community A proud member of the Lumbee Tribe, Jarrod has always sought ways to give back to the Tribal community that helped raised him. From 2015-2021, Jarrod served as an elected member of the Lumbee Tribal Council, representing the communities of Oxendine, Prospect and Wakulla.

As Chairman of the Tribal Council's Federal Recognition Committee, Jarrod advocated for full federal recognition for the Lumbee Tribe and helped deliver important legislative victories for the Tribe in the General Assembly.

Jarrod also served as chairman of the Tribal Council's Economic Development committee.

Serving Robeson County in Raleigh In 2022, Jarrod was elected to represent Robeson County and the 47th House District in Raleigh. In the General Assembly, Jarrod will make economic development, investing in education, improving infrastructure, and standing on the side of farmers and first responders a top priority.
