BioA 65 year-old retired food broker, Craig and two partners built one of the largest foodservice brokerage businesses in the country serving the Baltimore-Washington and Mid-Atlantic markets. As a small businessman, Craig is keenly aware of the important role that small business plays in job creation. Craig has run other small businesses, both as an owner and outside consultant. Craig is chairman of the Churchill Society of North Carolina and a past board member and treasurer of The Churchill Centre and the International Churchill Society. The Churchill Society of North Carolina is an affiliated chapter of The Churchill Centre, an educational foundation founded in 1968 to foster leadership, statesmanship, vision, boldness and courage among democratic and freedom-loving peoples through the thoughts, words, works and deeds of Winston Churchill. Craig created North Carolina’s Winston Churchill Seminars for High School Students and Teachers in order to help tomorrow’s leaders learn the lessons of leadership from the great events of twentieth-century history. Before moving to Weddington, Craig was active in his Maryland community. Elected to three terms on the Laurel City Council, he was twice elected Chairman of the Council. He served as president of the Prince Georges’ County Municipal Association and on the Economic Development Commission of Howard County, MD. Craig is an Honorary Member of the World Champion Laurel Volunteer Rescue Squad and past president of the Laurel Lions Club. Craig has been politically active in Union County and served as the Union County coordinator for the McCrory for Governor campaign. Craig served nearly eight years in the United States Air Force Security Service as a Russian linguist, 1962-69, and continues to be active with the American Veterans Center in Washington, DC. Craig and Lorraine have four grown children and seven grandchildren.
