Bio

State Representative Ray Scott was born in Ohio and grew up in Rifle, CO. He later graduated from Rifle High School in Western Colorado. His father worked as law enforcement officer in Denver and later joined the State Patrol sparking his interest in public service.

Representative Scott initially worked for Conoco Transportation in natural gas. Upon being promoted to Transportation Manager, he and his young wife and daughter moved to New Mexico. In 1978, he returned to Grand Junction after Williams Energy offered him the Operations Manager position.

He served on the board of directors of the National Propane Gas Association for 2 years and was appointed Vice President of the Colorado Propane Gas Association in 1985. In 1990, he also was elected as President of the Rocky Mountain Gas Association.

After working with Williams Energy and Echo Petroleum, he transitioned from operations management to equipment sales and started Gas Products Corporation, a company that sells high-end equipment for luxury homes and commercial applications.

Rep. Scott presently owns and operates Gas Products Corporation in Grand Junction, serving the entire state with equipment for end users of gas. Wanting to diversify, he also purchased Skyline Sports Center in Grand Junction and Coolwater Homes which, specializes in land development and custom home building.

When he is not at the Capitol serving in his role as State Representative (HD 54), or managing one of his three business enterprises he enjoys fly-fishing and spending time with his family.
