BioSenator Bill Sample is serving his second term in the Arkansas Senate. Elected in 2010 and re-elected in 2012, he represents District 14, which is comprised of parts of Garland and Saline Counties. In the current 89th General Assembly, he is chairman of Senate Transportation, Technology & Legislative Affairs and vice chairman of Arkansas Legislative Council. His committee memberships include- Senate Revenue & Tax; Joint Budget Committee (JBC); Joint Public Retirement & Social Security Programs; Legislative Joint Auditing; Senate Efficiency; Arkansas State Game & Fish commission Oversight Committee and JBC-Special Language.During the 88th Legislative Session he served as vice chairman of City, County and Local Affairs Committee and chairman of Joint Legislative Audit Subcommittee on Counties and Municipalities. He also served on the following legislative committees- Legislative Joint Auditing; Senate Revenue and Taxation; Senate Transportation, Technology and Legislative Affairs; Senate Rules, Resolutions and Memorials; and Joint Retirement and Social Security. Additionally, he was an alternate to Joint Budget. In 2004, Senator Sample was elected to the Arkansas House of Representatives and served three consecutive terms. As State Representative for House District 30, he served as chairman of House Public Transportation as well as Boys and Girls State and vice chairman of ALC-Personnel. He held membership on several committees, including Arkansas Legislative Council; House Agriculture, Forestry and Economic Development; ALC - Peer; Blue Ribbon Committee on Highway Finance; House Parks and Tourism Subcommittee; and ALC-Policy Making. In July 2011, Senator Sample was elected vice-chairman of the Economic Development, Transportation and Cultural Affairs Committee of The Council of State Governments’ Southern office, the Southern Legislative Conference (SLC). A small-business owner, Senator Sample owns Pestco, Inc., a termite and pest control company. He and his wife Betty Ann have two daughters.
