Okefenokee RESA and SC GLRS offers a Literacy Series with the goal of ensuring all students become proficient, motivated, and critical life-long readers and writers through well-planned and comprehensive literacy instruction. The series, with a variety of workshops to address all components of a balanced language arts classroom, is available to teachers, coaches, and administrators who wish to strengthen their knowledge of the reading and writing process. Workshop topics include Building a Balanced Literacy Block, Phonemic Awareness, Writing, Literacy Instruction for Emergent Readers, Guided Reading, Data-Driven Instruction, and Reading Comprehension.
The first course in our Literacy Series, Building A Balanced Literacy Block, is offered to school teams of five participants who represent the school’s literacy team.
Members should include a teacher from K-1, 2-3, 4-5, a special education teacher, and an instructional coach or administrator.
This workshop will strengthen teachers’ knowledge of balanced literacy rituals, routines, and responsibilities. Participants should bring the daily schedule for each grade in the band they represent.

Cancellation Policy
If you need to cancel your class registration, you must contact the Registrar, Jennifer Hale (jhale@okresa.org) PRIOR to the registration deadline. If you cancel after the registration deadline or do not show up for class you will be billed for the class.
