Course Description
Teachers new to the profession (5 years or less experience) will participate in activities designed to make their first years of teaching successful, impactful, and enjoyable. Engagin students and managing the classroom are major factors that infulence student achievement. Annette Breaux will lead teachers through practical, common-sense teaching strategies that will encourage positive student-teacher relationships and foster student behavior, engagement, and achievement.

Annette Breaux is a former classroom teacher, curriculum coordinator, and teacher induction coordinator. Annette also developed the FIRST Program, an induction program for new teachers hailed as one of the best in the country. The program was adopted as Louisiana's statewide model.

Annette has co-authored books with both Harry Wong and Todd Whitaker. Her expertise is in student achievement, classroom management, and new teacher induction. Her books include "101 Answers for New Teachers and Their Mentors," "REAL Teachers, REAL Challenges, REAL Solutions," "Seven Simple Secrets: What the BEST Teachers, Know and Do," "50 Ways to Improve Student Behavior," Making Good Teaching GREAT," " Quick Answers for Busy Teachers," and "The Ten-Minute Inservice."
