Course Description
This GCEE sponsored course is designed for high school US History teachers. From Jackson to Roosevelt to Johnson, fiscal policy decisions have impacted the people of the United States. Workshop participants will engage in lessons focused on the Second National Bank (SSH7b), the history of Social Security (SSH18b), and the creation of Medicare (SSH21b). Participants will receive seven non-partisan lesson plans organized around the application of primary source documents to the history of Social Security, Medicare, the Federal Reserve, the Second National Bank, and the Panic of 1893/Election of 1896. There is no registration fee for this workshop, instructional materials are provided, substitute reimbursement is available, and lunch is included.
