Course Description
This is the first of the three required courses for the Gifted Endorsement.

Instruction is designed for teachers seeking a certification endorsement in gifted education for the purpose of teaching gifted students in grades K-12.  The teachers will be required to administer state and local regulations, policies, and procedures for implementing special programs for gifted students.  Candidates will receive instruction in cognitive development, learning styles, concepts of creativity, and principles of learning.

Characteristics of Gifted -- 10 sessions -- 50 hours 

Characteristics of the Gifted provides an overview of gifted learners and special populations. Cognitive, social-emotional, and behavioral characteristics of gifted students necessitate different instructional design. This course will address methods by which the unique characteristics can be addressed in instruction and learning environment. This course also addresses the instruments used in the process of identifying and serving gifted students.

                   Sept 5 , 7 (Thurs OL), 12, 19, 21 (ThursOL), 26, 28 (Thurs OL)

                   Oct. 3

Times:        4:30 – 9:30 p.m.  (Dismissal usually takes place earlier.)

Your registration status will remain pending until we receive the registration fee and approval from your system Professional Learning Coordinator. The registration fee must be submitted immediately. Cancellation Policy

Cancellation for any course must be received prior to the registration deadline. Registration fees are refundable only if cancellation is received by the registration deadline. Any cancellations received after the deadline will not be accepted and fees will not be returned. If cancellation is not made and registrant does not attend the course, the status will be "No Show" and payment will still be required.
