How do we create classrooms based on sound Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports for students? This class will enhance your classroom management style and help you learn strategies that will enable you to create and maintain a positive learning environment. Our learning is based on sound practices found in “Classwide Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports” by Brandi Simonsen and Diane Myers. We will explore: * techniques for maximizing structure; * strategies for teaching expectations, rules and procedures; * multiple ways to actively engage students; * how we can acknowledge the behaviors we want to see; and, * continuums for the prevention of and response to challenging behavior. We will explore the critical role data collection and relationships play in the day to day success of students and how the integration of PBIS practices in the classroom is measured by the Tiered Fidelity Inventory (a fidelity instrument used by PBIS teams to assess Tier 1 implementation.) This course is an extension of Tier 1 Day 3 training - PBIS in the Classroom. The focus is on Tier 1 supports and how PBIS in the Classroom is evidenced by these sound practices.
