***Please carefully read instructions below on how to register and what to expect regarding transcripts and PLUs.***

REGISTRATION AND GAPSC TRANSCRIPT PROCESS FOR COURSES:

1.  Register with Metro RESA by scrolling to the bottom of this page where you see "Begin an Application for this Class".  Log in using your exisiting Metro RESA username and password, or if you have never registered with us before, begin that process by creating a profile.  By doing this, you are letting us know that you are planning to register for and complete a Grassroots workshop, and that upon completion of the workshop, we will need to process a transcript and maintain records for your participation.  Transcripts are $20 and will be processed after the successful completion of your workshop.  You will be able to pay for this during this first step before registering for the actual workshop.  You must proceed to step two to actually register for the workshop on the Grassroots website!

2.  Go to the Grassroots Workshops site and register for the workshop of your choice.

****Please note that the Grassroots Workshops webpage does not translate workshops into PLUs and may refer to credit hours and/or hours of instruction.  Ten hours of instruction equals one (1) PLU, but we will happily add together hours of instruction to equal additional PLUs.  For example, althought a thirteen hour course is one PLU and a seventeen hour course is only one PLU (because partial PLUs cannot be awarded), a thirteen hour course and a seventeen hour course may be added together to equal three PLUs.  We will be happy to answer questions about the number of hours or PLUs for anything on their site.****

3.  Upon successful completion, Grassroots wil issue a Certificate of Completion to participants.  Participants must email the Certificate of Completion to Charlene Williams (charlene.williams@mresa.org).  Charlene will then mark completion on our website and generate a transcript for the participant indicating the number of hours or professional learning units (PLUs) being awarded.  The fee for this transcript is $20.  PLEASE NOTE:  The Georgia Professional Standards Commission will not accept the Certificate of Completion awarded by Grassroots Workshops.  They will only accept a transcript generated by an approved organization in Georgia.  Transcripts will be generated once a week, so please allow up to five business days to receive your transcript.

TO RECAP:  You must complete a registration on this page (scroll down) AND complete a registration on the Grassroots Workshopsn website.  Upon successful completion of the course, you will email the certificate provided by Grassroots Workshops to Charlene Williams. She will email your transcript to you within five business days.   It is your responsibility to send transcripts to the Georgia Professional Standards Commission.

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING CANCELLATION POLICY BEFORE YOU REGISTER!

Metro RESA makes every effort to provide high quality professional learning experiences at low costs to teachers in the Metro Atlanta area. Because we often have to pay instructors, rental fees for locations, and for materials, we must make decisions at least two weeks in advance about cancellation of classes when we do not have enough registrants.

Therefore, our cancellation/no show policy is as follows:

  • If you choose PERSONAL PAY as your payment method: You must use a credit card to complete your registration for all classes with Metro RESA.  We will happily issue a refund for any class as long as you notify us that you need to cancel AT LEAST TWO WEEKS PRIOR TO THE DATE OF THE CLASS.  You will be refunded via the same method of payment within two business weeks.
  • If you choose SCHOOL PAY as your payment method: Your school will be notified of all no-shows and invoiced for no-shows and/or cancellations made less than two weeks prior to class.
  • If you choose DISTRICT PAY as your payment method: Your district will be notified of all no-shows and invoiced for no-shows and/or cancellations made less than two weeks prior to class.

THIS POLICY APPLIES TO ALL METRO RESA CLASSES EXCEPT GEORGIA TAPP, ALTERNATIVE CERTIFICATION CLASSES AND ANY TRIPS.

Refunds and reimbursements are not transferable to other classes. Refunds for cancellations (if the participant cancels at least two weeks prior to class OR if Metro RESA cancels the class) will be processed within two business weeks of the date of the course.
