Course Description

Charting the Course provides ELA teachers with daily, authentic practices that prepare students for the writing demands for the ELA (gr. 3-5) GA Milestones. Teachers will analyze components of the constructed response, the narrative response, and the extended constructed response.

Participants will implement an activity from day one and bring sample student writings for day two. The collaborative sharing of sample student writings will simulate PLC practices, such as looking at student work, calibrating scoring, and planning targeted revision strategies for improving students’ on-demand writing. Such job embedded, PLC activities were recommended by the GA PSC rules change in July 2015. School teams representing grades 3-5 are encouraged to enroll for this GA ELA Milestones writing course.
