Course Description

Do you ever wonder what’s the difference between and “IEP” and a “504 Plan”?  Are you confused about why some students with disabilities qualify for educational supports, while others do not?  Do you want to know the process for helping students access the supports they need?  If so, this is the course for you!

In this one day training, we will review the laws that prohibit disability discrimination and the statutes that provide school systems guidance on how to serve and/or support students who meet the definition of a disability under the law.  Attendees will:

  • Identify the laws that protect the rights of individuals with disabilities
  • Discuss the meaning of disability under Section 504
  • Provide an overview of “FAPE” under Section 504
  • Examine the differences and similarities among Section 504, Title II, and the Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA)

Please join us for this course that provides an overview and basic understanding of Section 504.

Lunch and materials will be provided.
