Course Description
This course provides insight and experiences for secondary teachers to integrate instruction and assessment through instructional sequences implementing the GSE for Science.

Special Instructions:

Participants should bring textbook or other resources used in instruction.  Participants will also need their copy of GSE for the course they teach and any district requirements for instructional planning.


1.  Compare the language of GPS to GSE in order to be able to differentiate between the expected student outcomes.

2.  Experience an instructional sequence that incorporates multiple assessment opportunities and strategies providing ongoing information for differentiation.

3. Examine a model of an instructional sequence that aligns the use of assessment and GSE science instruction in order to develop student conceptual understanding.

4. Analyze sample assessment items as models of the greater conceptual understanding expectations of GSE standards.

5. Develop an instructional sequence with grade level or course peers aligned with the instructional and assessment goals of the GSE for Science.

It is the registrant's responsibility to email cancellation requests to the Registrar ( or to call CPRESA (229-546-4094, ext. 110). School districts will be invoiced for no-shows and/or cancellations made less than two weeks prior to class.


Coastal Plains RESA reserves space in professional learning classes and workshops for employees of member districts. In the rare event when classes are full or overbooked, slots must be made available for employees of member systems. Priority of class availability is as follows:

  1. Certified personnel under contract with a member system or RESA
  2. Classified personnel of a member system or RESA
  3. Certified personnel under contract with a system that is a member of a RESA outside the CPRESA area
  4. Personnel of a state agency
  5. Presently unemployed persons from the CPRESA area seeking renewal of certificate
  6. Personnel employed by a system that is not a member of CPRESA, such as private schools or agencies
  7. Out-of-State personnel

 The fee displayed for the class is the fee for personnel in categories 1 and 2. Personnel in categories 3-7 are subject to an out-of-area fee, when applicable.
