Course Description

Training Series III 

Got Behavior? Work with Students with Disabilities? Are the Students on the Autism Spectrum? This class is for you! The Marcus Autism Center consultants will help identify the functions of behavior, antecedent strategies and behaviorial interventions; understand how to use indirect and direct methods to obtain information and how to interpret data collected;  develop a function-based Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP); and assess effectiveness of current BIP, etc.

Pre-requisite:  Introduction to Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) 
In this training series, trainees will develop the following skills:
  • Identify the functions of behavior
  • Understand how to use indirect or direct methods to obtain information about the hypothesized function of a student's behavior
  • Understand how to interpret data collected on the student's aberrant behavior
  • Identify antecedent strategies to decrease the likelihood of student's aberrant behavior
  • Identify behavioral interventions that are matched to each function
  • Develop a function-based Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP)
  • Deveop data collection methods to monitor integrity of implementation and progress of the student's behavior change
  • Assess effectiveness of current BIP

Cancellation Policy

Cancellation for any course must be received prior to the registration deadline. Registration fees are refundable only if cancellation is received by the registration deadline. Any cancellations received after the deadline will not be accepted and fees will not be returned. If cancellation is not made and registrant does not attend the course, the status will be "No Show" and payment will still be required.
