Course Description

This session will offer practical implications for practice and policy to promote equity and justice in the school environment.

Learning Objectives:
1.) Participants will be able to describe what social justice is and why it is meaningful for equity in education;
2.) Participants will be able to describe the social justice implications related to prevention intervention, counseling, and assessment;
3.) Using national and local data sources, participants will explore significant race-based inequities for school-age children including academic achievement and social-emotional, and behavioral functioning;
4.) Using a social justice framework, attendees will explore the implications for equitable school-based practice, including prevention, intervention, and assessment;
5.) Participants will be exposed to the central role of educators as agents of systems change and influencers of necessary policy decisions that are intentionally informed by principles of justice and equity.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellation for any course must be received prior to the registration deadline. Registration fees are refundable only if cancellation is received by the registration deadline. Any cancellations received after the deadline will not be accepted and fees will not be returned. If cancellation is not made and registrant does not attend the course, the status will be "No Show" and payment will still be required.
