Bio

Judy Schwiebert has spent her life in LD 20 as the mom of two successful now-adult sons, a teacher for 27 years in our local public high schools, and a community leader. Now, she's running to represent our community in the AZ State House. As a proven, strong leader, she knows and shares the priorities of our district. This is her home. As a teacher, co-founder of Theater Works, board member of a large church, and community center director, she learned powerful lessons about how listening and working together give everyone a chance to succeed. Most recently, Judy co-founded a non-partisan group where people concerned about healthcare, education, and other issues worked together to successfully turn their concerns into positive, powerful action, with demonstrated impact. Judy puts people over politics and will work for all of us to restore school funding, ensure quality affordable healthcare, and foster good-paying jobs that allow everyone their chance at the American Dream. She'll prioritize smart investments in our community's future because she knows that we all do better when every student gets a quality education and every family and business gets their chance to thrive.

Judy is grateful for the great education she received in Arizona's public schools, from John F. Long Elementary, to Maryvale and then Sunnyslope High Schools. She began her higher education at Glendale Community College, graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Arizona State University.

When she was 27 when she started her first teaching job at Greenway High School in the English department. After several years of teaching, she decided to go back to school to become a librarian where she shared her love of reading with high school students for nearly 20 years before retiring in 2006.

As a mom, she raised her two sons here in the Northwest Valley where they got a great education in Washington and Glendale Union District schools and played soccer, Little League and performed in community theater.

As a co-founder of Theater Works and long-time board member, every time the curtain opened on a new production, she had a front-row seat to the magic that comes from working together on something greater than ourselves.

Thank you for electing Judy to now serve our community at the Arizona State House. She is committed to listening and working together to make sure that everyone gets their chance to thrive. Please feel free to contact her anytime to let her know what's important to you.
