Erick Allen learned from his parents that faith without good deeds falls short. Erick's father, a retired CME pastor, volunteered as a poll worker and worked to register people of color to vote. His mother was a beloved public school teacher for over 30 years - shaping the hearts and minds of countless young people. On weekends, Erick would join his grandmother as a volunteer at the Red Cross and continue learning about the value of public service.

In 2008, Erick Allen started Level 4 Performance, a human resources consulting business. Within two years it was profitable and created good-paying jobs with benefits for twelve employees. But in 2011, Erick's preexisting condition and steep medical bills put health insurance out of reach and forced the business to close.

Erick's family's example stands in stark contrast to Georgia's Republican leaders. Even before COVID, Georgia families were struggling unnecessarily because of politicians who care more about their own ego and ambition than the issues that affect everyday Georgians.

Through hard work, determination, and access to health insurance through the Affordable Care Act, Erick rebuilt his business. But the experience and the force of the pandemic made it clear that Georgia families and small businesses must have access to quality, affordable healthcare to succeed.

In 2018, Cobb County voters sent Erick to the state Capitol where he has been a tireless advocate for full Medicaid expansion, environmental justice, and a check on Republican attempts to make voting more difficult.

Erick works as a management consultant and lives in the Vinings area with his wife, Dr. Tameka Allen, and daughter, Elise.
