Rick Ward, III grew up in Livonia and is now a resident of rural Maringouin. He is a graduate of Bethany Christian School in Baker, holds a Bachelor's Degree from Louisiana State University and obtained his Law Degree from Southern University Law Center. He currently practices law in Port Allen, LA. In 2011, Ward was elected to the Louisiana State Senate, District 17. His current standing committees are Insurance, Judiciary A, and Natural Resources (Vice-Chairman) Ward is married to Dawn White Ward of Baker, and the couple has three children, Reese, 6 years old, Hayes,4 years old and Hudson, 20 months. Ward is an avid hunter, fisherman and outdoorsman and a proud LSU Tiger fan. Maintaining Conservative values and a Christian Faith, he regularly attends Bethany World Prayer Center.
