Simply, I am running to fight for Southwest Virginia. I have a lovely wife of twenty-seven years, four children, and four grandchildren. I have started and run multiple businesses here in SWVA with over one hundred employees and hundred's of sub-contractors and vendors that count on our companies as for their primary source of income. This region is much more to me than a place to make a name for myself in politics. It represents hundreds of family members, our church family, lovely schools that taught our children to read and write, teachers who have invested in the future of our grandchildren, countless friends, beautiful mountains, a four season climate to enjoy, and the list goes on and on! I don't want to leave SWVA! I have too much invested here, too much at stake here! There is an old saying "the person with the most 'skin in the game' is the person that plays the hardest!" Friends! I have a lot skin invested in SWVA and I will fight to the last to see it succeed! That is why I am running for the Virginia Senate - to serve our communities and families and help the region, places, and people I love and call home prosper, succeed, and have a voice in Richmond.

New Senate Office in Pulaski Representation is the cornerstone of American democracy. This is why I will ensure that my office is first-class in customer service and pro-active in working for your needs. You will always have a receptive, responsive, and accessible voice on your behalf in Richmond when I become your next Senator. This is also why I will immediately establish a second staffed office in Pulaski to ensure that every resident in the district has easy access to their State Senator.

Right to Life As my wife and I have experienced the miracle of childbirth four times, I have never lost the awe and wonder of the gift of life. This is a precious miracle that we have a responsibility to protect and nourish. This is why I am 100% pro-life at all stages - beginning at conception. I will also champion ways to make adoptions more affordable to eliminate abortions and provide more ways to offer hope and promote life.

A Strong Friend of Coal Growing up in Buchanan County, I experienced firsthand the work ethic of a coalmining father and know the value that coal has to our region. This is why as Chairman of the Tazewell County Board of Supervisors, I passed a resolution for the extension of coal tax credits to save hundreds of jobs. I will always protect coal, create jobs, complete the Coalfields expressway, and be a strong voice for our region in Richmond.

Roads and Infrastructure Improvements With over twenty years in the construction industry coupled with my stints on planning commissions, IDA's, regional authorities, and also as Chairman of Tazewell County Board of Supervisors, I have seen and worked closely with VDOT in our region. We live in the mountains! Beautiful SWVA mountains! Where there is mountains, there are valleys! When there is rain, there is runoff! Where there is runoff there is ditches! SWVA may not have the population that North of Roanoke has, but we still have expenses that have been ignored for way too long! How many times have we seen flooding in our region? Every year! Sadly multiple times a year there is localized funding. A lot of this can be mitigated by additional funding sent to our regional VDOT office to clean out ditches and drainage pipes. Unfortunately, we don't fund it and then when flooding occurs we pay many times more to clean up the mess! As your Virginia Senator, I understand this and will fight for more funding for VDOT to take care of and maintain drainage areas and roads for the 38th district! Protecting our Gun Rights As the father of three sons, some of our greatest memories were developed at gun ranges, in tree stands, and exploring Southwest's great outdoors. Hunting became more than a sport, it helped bond lifelong relationships with our family. I am a proud member of the NRA, a conceal carry permit holder, and a staunch defender of our right to bear arms.

Election Integrity As a Tazewell County Supervisor Board member, I have worked closely with our electoral board. When I was first elected to the Board in 2015, one of the first capital expenses that Richmond mandated to local governments was to purchase new voting machines to the tune of $250,000. No help from State or Federal, just a mandate. We made phone calls and wrote letters, but to no avail. Recently in this last election, we saw first hand how important or elections are in this country and the suspicious cloud that hangs over our head about voter fraud! As your next Virginia Senator, I will work hard to pass legislation to mandate that ONLY AMERICAN MADE and AMERICAN SUPPORTED VOTING MACHINES are used in the Commonwealth of Virginia! Our elections are too important to leave in the hands of other countries.
