Bio

Maureen Ann McCarville is a Democratic politician from DeForest, Wisconsin, currently serving in the Wisconsin State Assembly representing the 42nd District. She assumed office on January 6, 2025, after winning the November 2024 general election with 55% of the vote against Republican Rebecca Witherspoon.

Born in May 1958, McCarville has been a resident of the DeForest area since around 1980. She earned her bachelor's degree from Upper Iowa University and has worked in the accounting department at Madison Gas and Electric since at least 2012 . Her public service began in 1999 when she was elected to the DeForest Village Board, serving for four years. She then served on the DeForest Police and Fire Commission from 2001 to 2012.

In 2012, McCarville was elected to the Dane County Board of Supervisors, representing District 22, which includes DeForest and Windsor. She has been re-elected every two years since.

McCarville served in the Wisconsin National Guard for a decade, reflecting her commitment to public service.

In the State Assembly, McCarville serves on the Energy and Utilities Committee and the Veterans and Military Affairs Committee. Her legislative priorities include supporting working families, enhancing community safety, advocating for women's healthcare, protecting veterans, seniors, and vulnerable populations, improving water quality, and promoting economic development.
