BioRaised in Ohio, Representative John Spiros began his career by serving six years in the United States Air Force. While in the service, John was a member of an elite security squad at Offutt Air Force Base Nebraska, where he was tasked with protecting the 26 generals and the command center for the Strategic Air Command.
After his time in the Air Force, John served as a police officer for the cities of McKinney and Rowlett, Texas, before beginning his career in the transportation industry. It was his career in transportation that brought him to his adopted home in Marshfield, WI. Although not a native Sconnie, John has spent over twenty years living, working, and raising a family in Marshfield.
Prior to his time in the State Assembly, John served as an Alderman in the city of Marshfield (2005-20013). He is currently a member of the Marathon County Farm Bureau and the Marshfield Elks Lodge 665, and is a past member of the Marshfield Rotary Club.
John was first elected to the State Assembly in 2012, and has been re-elected four times since. For the past three sessions he has served as the Chairman of the Assembly Committee on Criminal Justice & Public Safety, and has served in various leadership roles on the Assembly Committees on Transportation, Ways and Means, and Labor during his time in the Legislature. During his first two terms, John also served on the Governor's Transportation Projects Commission.
John currently resides in Marshfield with his wife Rebecca, who is a nurse at Marshfield Clinic. Together they have five adult children and three grandchildren. John continues his work in the transportation industry as the Vice President of Safety and Claims Management for Roehl Transport. In the private sector, John has received numerous awards, and served as the President of the Transportation Industry Defense Association from 2015-17.
