BioRussell Antonio Goodwin Sr. is a Democratic member of the Wisconsin State Assembly, representing the 12th Assembly District since January 6, 2025. He made history as the first African American man to represent this district.
Born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Goodwin graduated from Shorewood High School. He later received an honorary doctorate in divinity in 2015.
Goodwin is a multifaceted individual with experience as a pastor, author, actor, singer, musician, and small business owner. He founded Christians United on the Move Church, now known as The Movement Center Church, where he continues to serve as senior pastor. Additionally, he owns Goodwin Enterprises, LLC, and has been involved in various community initiatives, including feeding the homeless and producing the broadcast "Get On the Move Today".
Before joining the State Assembly, Goodwin served on the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors from 2020 to 2022. In the 2024 general election, he won the seat for the 12th Assembly District, defeating Deanna Alexander.
Goodwin is a devoted husband and father, residing in Milwaukee's 12th Assembly District. He has five children from his first marriage and three stepchildren from a subsequent marriage.
