BioTom Butler is a dedicated public servant, a lifelong Madison County resident, and a Pharmacist. He has spent his entire career working hard to make life better for average Alabamians. In 1982, he was elected to the Alabama House of Representatives, where he served until 1994. He then ran for the Alabama State Senate, and served District 2 from 1995 to 2010. Throughout his career of public service, Tom Butler has continued to work as a local pharmacist, making him one of the most accessible elected officials in the state. While serving in the state legislature, Tom Butler worked hard to represent the citizens of Madison and Limestone counties in a fair and transparent manner. Tom Butler has a strong consistent record of supporting our schools, law enforcement, and emergency services. He has brought jobs to our community, grown our economy, and promoted conservative values in Montgomery. After having his life saved by an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), Tom Butler passed legislation and worked directly with rural fire departments across the entire state to ensure that everyone in Alabama had quick and easy access to this life saving technology. Since the passage of his bill, over a thousand lives have been saved by these devices. Tom Butler lives in Madison City with his wife Karen, and attends University Baptist Church. He has been blessed with two beautiful daughters, Robin and Jill, and is a proud grandfather to three boys and one girl. He holds degrees in Chemistry and Biology from the University of Alabama, and a Pharmacy degree from the University of Auburn. He is an active member of the Madison County Republican Executive Committee, the Alabama State Republican Executive Committee, and the Tennessee Valley Republican Club.
