BioSenator Jason Anavitarte, a Republican, has served in the
Georgia State Senate since 2020. He represents Senate
District 31, which includes all of Polk County and most of
Paulding County.
Sen. Anavitarte serves as Senate Majority Caucus
Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the Hispanic Legislative
Caucus, as well as the Vice-Chairman of the Senate
Committee on Natural Resources and the Environment.
He also serves as an Ex-Officio member of the Senate
Committees on Rules and Veterans, Military, and
Homeland Security. In addition, Sen. Anavitarte is a voting member of the Senate Committees on
Appropriations, Ethics, Finance, Reapportionment and Redistricting, and Transportation.
In 2003, Sen. Anavitarte became the youngest Hispanic elected in Georgia through his election to the City
Council of his hometown, Doraville, Georgia. During his time serving on the City Council, Sen. Anavitarte also
became one of the youngest to serve as Mayor Pro-Tempore in Georgia. In 2018, he was also elected to serve as
a member of the Paulding County School Board. He has been recognized as one of the 50 Most Influential
Latinos in Georgia, and has previously served as the 2016 Chairman for Senator Marco Rubio's Georgia
Presidential Campaign and a delegate for President Trump at his Republican National Convention. In 2020, he
served as a senior advisor of the National Latinos for Trump coalition. Sen. Anavitarte is a graduate of the AEI
Leadership Network and was previously named as one of GOPAC's 2022 National Emerging Leaders.
Before starting a career in public service and business, Sen. Anavitarte received his undergraduate degree from
Georgia State University. He then went onto receive his M.S. in Public Policy from the Georgia Institute of
Technology. After graduating from Georgia Tech, Sen. Anavitarte was bestowed with the Ivan Allen Legacy Jr.
Award.
Sen. Anavitarte's service in the community has included a position as the Past Chairman for Chattahoochee
Technical College's Board of Trustees and as a member of the Paulding County Drug Court's Executive
Committee, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes organization and the Faith and Freedom Coalition. He was also
a past board member of the Paulding Public Safety Appreciation, Inc.
A resident of Dallas, Georgia, Sen. Anavitarte and his wife Jennifer have three daughters and attend Burnt
Hickory Church.
