BioStephanie Kifowit proudly served her country in the United States Marine Corps, served the residents of the City of Aurora as Alderman for over nine years. Now, as full-time State Representative of the 84th District, she serves the residents of Aurora, Montgomery, Naperville, and Oswego. As a former financial advisor, Kifowit helped families make the best long-term decisions for their futures and she brings that experience to the State of Illinois.
As she entered her third two-year term in office, she had a record of fighting for Veterans, seniors and the most vulnerable in our community. She has passed laws to protect individuals from on-line ticket scams, raised awareness and the purchase age for harmful powdered caffeine, passed "Ann Marie's" law to assist schools to help prevent child suicide, protected seniors and individuals with disabilities by maintaining the DONs score, strengthened the the DCFS Advisory Council to protect children, worked to provide a "Disability Awareness Card" to help those with disabilities interact with first responders, supported the new education funding formula, and passed ground breaking legislation to lower and, hopefully, end Veteran suicide.
Representative Kifowit is a proud alumna of Northern Illinois University and graduated with a B.S. in Political Science and a Masters of Public Administration. She is a wife and mother, who understands the struggles of working families. Stephanie and her husband Steve, an Army Veteran, have two children, Sabrina and Samuel. Samuel is on active duty serving in the United States Navy. The family is complete with Steve's daughter, Alexandria, her husband William and two grandchildren, William and Jonathan. After living in Aurora for 18 years, they currently reside in Oswego.
Currently, Representative Kifowit is Chairwoman of the Veterans Affairs Committee, State Government Administration, and Vice Chairwoman of the Appropriations/General Services Committee, and member of Revenue and Finance and Public Utilities.
