BioJ. Cameron Henry, Jr. is serving his first year as StateSenator of District 9. He currently serves on the Committees ofCommerce, Consumer Protection and International Affairs, Vice Chairmanof Commerce, Judiciary B Local and Municipal Affairs and JointLegislative Committee on the Budget. He previously served 12 years inthe Louisiana House of Representatives for District 82., where he wasre-elected to his second and third terms without opposition. His Senatedistrict covers the Old Metairie, Old Jefferson and Airline park areas.While in the House he served on the following Committees- Chairman ofAppropriations Committee, Joint Legislative Committee on Capital Outlay,Joint Legislative Committee on the Budget, Legislative Budgetary ControlCouncil and the State Bond Commission.
While servingon the Appropriations Committee, he took a stand against both the Jindaland Edwards administrations. In 2012, as vice-chairman of the committeeunder Governor Jindal, Cameron stood up to the administrations use ofone-time funds to balance the state budget and was removed from thecommittee. As chairman, Cameron worked to pass a fiscally responsiblebudget that avoided mid-year cuts.
Cameron graduatedfrom Jesuit High School in 1992. In August of 1997 he graduated from LSUwith a degree in Political Science and received his MBA from Tulane inFinance and Management in May of 2004. While working on his MBA, heserved as the legislative aide to Steve Scalise. In July of 2006 hecompleted the Executives in State and Local Government at the John F.Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. In 2014 he wasselected by the Washington Post as the Top 40 under 40 in the country.In December of 2016 he was selected by the Times Picayune as the thirdmost influential elected official in Louisiana.
He ismarried to Jamie Domilise Henry and they have 4 children.
