Hello, My name is Michele Binkley and I am a Republican candidate running for House District 85. My husband and I moved to District 85 with our two small boys in November 2002. Our boys grew up and went to school here in the Valley. My husband has worked for Selway Corporation and now Montana Fabrication Works in Stevensville as an industrial painter since April 2003. I worked for Ravalli County Federal Credit Union for nine years working as a Teller, Head Teller, and in operations. I have also worked for Super One Foods as a checker. The past eight years I have worked for First American Title Company in Hamilton. I started as receptionist, moved to disbursement clerk and now Escrow Officer. I have always been interested in current events and things that happen within our government. I thought I was doing my part by being a good citizen, working, raising my family and voting. All of those things are good and necessary. However, I am at a place in my life where I realize I need to do more. I have grown tired of watching the news and being upset with how our society continues to pull toward Socialism. As a Conservative, I feel I can no longer just sit back and watch what goes on around me. We the People have been given a wonderfully special gift. We the People must work to keep it. I decided after the November 2018 election I needed to do my part and participate in the political world around me. I didn't know where to start. I went to the internet and searched my party in Ravalli County and found myself attending as many meetings as I was able to. I have met many patriots in our valley and in our state. It is after much prayer I decided to run for House District 85. I do not have an agenda. I do not have a pet project. I believe in the Constitution and I feel it is time our elected officials do their part and UPHOLD it. We the People are supposed to be in charge. We are a Representative form of government and I wish to represent YOU. It is the representative's job to represent the wishes of the People and uphold the Constitution. It is time for us to clean house and vote for representatives that will represent us according to the Constitution and not seek their own power, fame and fortune. I am Pro Life. I will fight to defend the unborn. I am Pro 2nd Amendment, which is not only about hunting and sport shooting. It is about being able to defend ourselves against a tyrannical government. You can not have the 1st Amendment without the 2nd. They go hand in hand. I believe the government is supposed to work for us not the other way around. I believe in personal responsibility. I believe in state's rights. It is our responsibility to run our state in a way that suits us best. It is not up to Washington DC to dictate what is best for the citizens of Montana. It is up to us. I've heard from others who know me or have met me that I am too nice to be a politician. Well, for one thing, I am not a politician. We should not be sending politicians in to do this job. It was originally intended for those who represent us to be like us. Another thing, I am nice and kind because I choose to be. I care for others. I respect each and every one of you. There are none of us better than the other. We all have talents and experiences that are different from one another. That is what is special about us and our form of government. I am not afraid to fight for our freedom and I am not afraid to fight for you. I will speak the Truth. I will speak the truth on your behalf and I will speak the truth to you. Thank you for your consideration.
