Bio

I moved to Utah in 2009 after spending my early years growing up in New Hampshire. I was raised to respect the great outdoors and followed my passion for skiing to Utah. You'll find me enjoying the Wasatch canyons on foot, skis and bike throughout the seasons. I'm committed to protecting these spaces and the quality of life they create for residents, from our trails and snow to the water we drink. My love of outdoor recreation and sustainability drew me to a career in renewable energy, and I hope to continue that focus in the legislature.

When I moved to Utah, I originally thought it would be temporary. But after my parents followed my lead in 2013, the state became my home. I am a proud graduate of Salt Lake Community College and went on to complete undergraduate studies at the University of Utah. I consider these my formative years, and I spent time working for progressive candidates and causes before completing a master's degree focused on public policy at Brown University.

After completing my master's degree, I worked as an advocate for renewable energy across the west, managing policy and government affairs for a trade association that represents large businesses and nonprofits to promote expansion of solar, wind, energy storage and other advanced technologies. I'm excited to apply my expertise to finding legislative solutions that will transform Utah into a renewable energy leader.

I'm committed to strengthening the community through service, and volunteer for a number of important causes and organizations. I enjoy working with refugees through Salt Lake City's Know Your Neighbor program, and have delivered groceries to high-risk folks throughout the ongoing pandemic. I've served as an advisor to a student-led campaign to transition Granite School District to clean energy, and sit on a handful of boards and committees including Friends of Alta, the SLCC Alumni Leadership Council, and the Salt Lake County Open Space Trust Fund Committee.

I live in Sugar House with my wife Jackie, a lifelong Utahn from Murray, and aspiring lawyer finishing her final year at the University of Utah's S.J. Quinney College of Law. We love living in SD13, from Sugar House to the Jordan River Parkway. I particularly enjoy our diverse dining options and am a firm believer that food creates strong community - ask me for my recommendations!
