BioRepresentative Don Parsons has been a resident of Cobb County, Georgia since 1972. He and his
wife, Jo Lynn, were married shortly after both graduated from West Virginia State University.
They have two daughters and six grandchildren.
Representative Parsons served in the United States Army Reserves and the Army National Guard
for a total of sixteen years. He served in the Infantry, Armored Cavalry and as a First Sergeant in
the Signal Corps. He was employed in the telecommunications industry for thirty-five years.
Representative Parsons is a long time member of the Marietta Kiwanis Club. He serves on
numerous advisory boards including the Northwest Georgia Law Enforcement Academy Board,
the Cobb County Library Foundation Board, the Cobb Community Service Board, and the Cobb
Safety Village Board. He is a Major in the Civil Air Patrol. He and Jo Lynn worship in the Methodist faith.
Representative Parsons was first elected to the House of Representatives in 1994. He is the
Chairman of the Energy, Utilities and Telecommunications Committee. He also serves on the
Health and Human Services Committee, the Appropriations Committee, and the Ways and Means Committee.
