APA Basic Trial Advocacy Program

Registration

The APA Basic Trial Advocacy Program, developed in partnership with the Louisiana District Attorneys Association (LDAA) and the Animal Legal Defense Fund (ALDF), will focus on the core trial skills needed from jury selection to rebuttal/final argument. Each student will develop their trial skills in practice sessions using the experts and evidence required in animal cruelty/domestic violence cases. The program is designed for prosecutors with up to three years of experience and will include one-on-one critiquing of trial practice exercises. In order to register, candidates must be approved by their District Attorney. Please note that not more than (2) applicants per office will be considered as the training class size is limited to 36 participants.

With support from the Animal Legal Defense Fund (ALDF), we are able to offer this program tuition-free for approved applicants. A limited number of lodging scholarships are also available based on your office's financial needs. The office must be located over fifty (50) miles from the training venue in Baton Rouge in order to qualify for consideration for a lodging scholarship. 

For those who indicate that they are in need of accommodations and will be handling the expenses themselves, additional information will be provided under separate email so that you are able to book a room with the proper group code.
