Scholarships are available for both VOCA and non-VOCA funded prosecution-based victim witness personnel to attend this conference. All scholarships will be funded through the Prosecuting Attorneys' Council of Georgia's VOCA budget and will be reimbursed directly to attendees immediately following the conference. Scholarships will pay for eligible lodging, meals and mileage to and from the conference. Please complete registration to apply for a scholarship. DEADLINE TO APPLY FOR THE SCHOLARSHIP IS WEDNESDAY, MARCH 4, 2020. If you do not receive a scholarship, travel costs (at the rates below) for this conference have been approved by CJCC for VOCA-funded offices. Therefore, you may pay for eligible travel to this conference out of your VOCA budgets as long as you have amended your budgets to include this travel. Questions about scholarships should be directed to Kathy Kemp (kkemp@pacga.org or 770-282-6364).

If you apply for a scholarship, you will be notified regarding the status of your scholarship by Friday, March 20, 2020. Scholarships will be provided on a reimbursable basis and will be funded through the Prosecuting Attorneys' Council of Georgia's VOCA budget. Reimbursement forms and hotel receipts must be submitted at the conclusion of the conference.

For scholarship recipients (both state-paid and non-state-paid) and those paying travel costs using VOCA funds, reimbursable items include: hotel, mileage, and meals at the below rates:

  • Lodging (per Federal rates): $104 per night (does not include tax). Under PAC policy, scholarship recipients with a departure point of less than 300 miles from the conference center are not eligible to receive reimbursement for the night before the conference. Under State rules, all attendees whose home AND office are less than 50 miles from the Classic Center are not eligible for reimbursement for lodging. NOTE: Under DOJ rules, which apply to VOCA grants, CJCC reserves the right to deny the entire cost of lodging if you exceed the Federal per diem of $104 per night. If you share a room, this rate cap applies to each lodger per night (e.g. two people lodging together could book a room at $208 per night). Taxes that are not exempted may be claimed.
  • Mileage (per State of Georgia Travel Regulations):  Mileage will be reimbursed at $0.58 for personal vehicles for all scholarship recipients (both county- and state-paid) or $0.20 per mile if a government vehicle was available but you chose to drive a personal vehicle. The scholarship will not reimburse County or State vehicles. For scholarships, approved mileage will be based on distance to the Classic Center from your main office or VOCA-funded office. You may claim less than the approved mileage if you depart from a location other than your main office, but you may not claim more.
  • Meals (per State of Georgia Travel Regulations): $28 per day ($6 breakfast, $7 lunch, $15 dinner).

Certificates for this training course will be provided to all advocates upon submission of the advocate affidavit. Please note the it will take a few weeks for you to receive your certificate.
