Additional Event Information

The Prosecuting Attorneys' Council of Georgia invites prosecutors and law enforcement to attend an HGN Webinar on Wednesday, April 15, 2020 from 1:00pm to 2:00pm. It offers 1 CLE and/or POST hour. This webinar is included in the Traffic Safety Track for the week.

Description of Training:

Standardized Field Sobriety tests are important to a DUI investigation. None more important than Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus. HGN is the scientifically validated test that gives officers information for levels of impairment. Law Enforcement are trained in how to identify the clues of impairment by proper administration of the test.

This course will discuss the 3 clues that Law Enforcement are trained to look for (Lack of Smooth Pursuit, Distinct and Sustained Nystagmus at Maximum Deviation, and the Onset prior to the 45 degree angle) and how to properly administer the complete test. It will discuss on how to properly describe HGN in DUI reports and testimony for successful prosecution.

CLE, POST, & Advocate
CLE: Please note the CLE credit will fall under the in-house/self-study rule. The rule has a six hour maximum on CLE credits (increased to 12 for 2019). A webinar falls in the same category as a video review. The supreme Court of Georgia allowed ALL 2019 CLE hours to be completed by approved in-house or distance learning seminars. The deadline for this is April 30, 2020. If you are in need of a CLE form for this training, please click HEREIf you are requesting CLE hours, there is a $4 charge. Please mail the CLE form and the check to PAC.

POST: We are excited to now offer POST credit through webinars! In order to receive POST credit for this webinar, you must listen to the webinar live not review the recorded version. We are asked to take attendance at the start and the end of the session to show who is on the call. You must sign in with your first and last name to receive credit and be present for the entire webinar. If you are in need of a POST form, please click HERE.
