Virtual Summer Conference 2020: Week Four | Breakout Track

This week's track will be covering a variety of topics, and as such you're welcome to only attend certain sessions, but you will not be able to receive credit for sessions you did not attend. Please see the agenda below:

Session One | Monday, August 3rd, 2020 from 10:00 am - 11:00 am
Handling Defense Experts by Mr. Edward Chase, Director of Litigation and Training at the Stone Mountain Judicial Circuit

Session Two | Tuesday, August 4th, 2020 from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Outside the Banker's Box: Financial Crimes by Mr. Chuck Spahos, Chief Financial Crimes Prosecutor at the North Carolina Conference of District Attorneys.

From initial investigation to trial presentation, financial crime cases are paper-intensive and calculation heavy.  This presentation will focus on how to organize, manage, and persuasively present large amounts of financial data from the banker’s box to the jury box.  We will also discuss how to evaluate financial crime cases, factors that should be considered in deciding if a case warrants criminal prosecution, and when to say No.  Case examples and lessons learned will be an intricate part of the presentation.

Session Three | Wednesday, August 5th, 2020 from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Cold Case Advances by Jesse Evans, Deputy Chief Assistant District Attorney at the Cobb Judicial Circuit.

This class will focus on GEO Fencing, facial recognition software, familial DNA, and building a cold case unit.

CLE, POST, & Advocate: All forms will be sent after the last session of the track on Wednesday, August 5th.

CLE: Please note the CLE credit will fall under the in-house/self-study rule. A webinar falls in the same category as a video review. The supreme Court of Georgia allowed ALL 2020 CLE hours to be completed by approved in-house or distance learning seminars. The deadline for this is March 31, 2021. For more information on this rule, please click HERE.

POST: We are excited to now offer POST credit through webinars! In order to receive POST credit for this webinar, you must listen to the webinar live not review the recorded version. We are asked to take attendance at the start and the end of the session to show who is on the call. You must sign in with your first and last name to receive credit and be present for the entire webinar.

Advocate: Due to the nature of this content, there will be no advocate credit given.
