Protecting Lives, Saving Futures
Course Information
Protecting Lives, Saving Futures provides in-depth instruction on the investigation and prosecution of DUI-alcohol cases. The curriculum was designed by the National Highway Safety Administration (NHTSA) and has been updated to reflect the issues most faced in alcohol DUI cases. The course is intended for both prosecutors and police officers. It includes discussions of all phases of the investigation and litigation of a DUI case and will allow for discussion between police and prosecutors regarding their perspectives on the topics. Dr. Jack Richman, O.D., a nationally recognized expert, will present on Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus HGN tests. Experienced Pennsylvania investigators and prosecutors will present on investigation, report writing, breath and blood test admissibility, and common trial issues. A wet lab demonstration of Standardized Field Sobriety Tests is part of the presentation. The course has been approved for 15 hours of substantive CLE credit. MPOETC accreditation is pending.
