Procedural Justice Training Series 2
Web Based Training

Course Description

Community Relations and Trust Building

Speakers: Honorable Kevin Steele - District Attorney, Montgomery County
Todd Barnes, Esquire - Assistant District Attorney, Montgomery County
Angela Bell, Esquire - Assistant District Attorney, Montgomery County

This presentation will focus on why and how community engagement and trust building can result in better public safety outcomes, improved results for victims of crime, and an increased sense of trust in the criminal justice system. The presentation will focus on existing methods of community engagement and focus on both successes and challenges.

Implicit Bias

Speaker: George Mosee, Jr., Esquire - Executive Director, Philadelphia Anti-Drug/Anti-Violence Network (PAAN), Former PDAA Juvenile Prosecutors Network Chair

This presentation will help identify implicit bias, which can be defined as a positive or negative mental attitude toward a person or group that a person holds at an unconscious level and can negatively affect decision-making. Because prosecutors cannot base their judgments on such bias, the presentation will provide strategies to help ensure that decisions are based on facts and not by implicit biases.
