A Victim’s Journey Through Post Sentencing:
OVA Overview

Virtual Meeting via Zoom
Wednesday, May 19, 2021 | 9 AM – 12 PM
PCCD Training Hour Approval: 3
Registration fee: $0

Presenter: The Office of the Victim Advocate

What happens after a defendant is sentenced? What rights do victims have? It is the responsibility of the Office of the Victim Advocate to implement post-sentencing rights and services for victims of crime in the PA Department of Corrections and the PA Parole Board. OVA diligently works to provide victims of crime with notifications, support, and advocacy services. Victim Assistance Coordinators on staff work with local advocates at community based victim service programs, as well as with advocates in county district attorney offices, to ensure that all victims of crime who have requested post-sentencing services receive the compassionate and individual attention that they require. Discussion will also touch on the Inmate Apology Bank, the Victim Offender Dialogue Program, Board of Pardons advocacy services, Victim testimony, the Address Confidentiality Program and safety planning, Sex Offender Notifications (SORNA), and Resilient Voices. This course is not accredited for CLE credit.

This FREE WEBINAR is open to all victim service providers, including attorneys and is limited to the first 90 registrants. Registrants will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. The last day to register is May 14, 2021. Any materials, plus the Zoom link, will be sent the week of the training. To register, please submit your email address above.
